
Island of Molokini is a crescent-shaped island, located about 2.5 miles off the south coast of Maui in Maalaea Bay. This is indeed a paradise for scuba divers and snorkeler’s as it offers great opportunity of snorkeling, scuba diving, and kayaking tours. The Island of Molokini has been declared as a Marine Life and Bird Conservation District by the state of Hawaii.
Though there are many exciting things to do and activities to enjoy, tourists in thousands mostly come here for diving. It is one of the top 10 dive spots in the world. As molokini's crescent shape protects divers from waves and the channel's powerful currents, it has become the most favorite diving & snorkeling spot for all who are visiting Maui for pleasure.
Molokini crater is one of the main attractions of the island housing approximately 250 to 260 distinct marine species. Among these the most common marine species are - Black Triggerfish, Moorish Idol, Parrotfish, Raccoon butterfly fish Yellow Tang, and Bluefin Trevally. The rarely fund marine animals here include Small Whitetip reef sharks and Moray eels. These are occasionally seen in the crater.
How to Reach: Molokini Island can only be reached by boat; the journey to the island typically begins from the Kihei Boat Ramp.
