
Surrounded by Rainforest, Iao Valley State Park is home to one of Maui's most recognizable landmarks that is Iao Needle, located on 6.2 acres (2.5 ha) at the end of Īao Valley Road (Highway 32). This is indeed an ideal destination for enjoying adventure activities like - hiking and sightseeing.
Main Attractions: The main attractions in this nature’s paradise are - Iao Needle – It is well surrounded cliffs of the West Maui Mountains and an extinct volcano that add more charm to this incredible spot. This site of the park offers short trail to a windy overlook. Hiking Trails – There are numerous trails that run through the park, offering an opportunity to witness unparallel natur’s beauty from stone throw distance. Garden area – this is the most fascinating area in Iao Valley State Park, situated near the stream that shows examples of native Hawaiian plants and also plants imported by the original settlers of the islands. It offers close views of the different plant species of the island, hence to know about these, you may need to hire a guide. Nature Center- Nature Center is conveniently located near the entrance of Iao Valley State Park, housing a small store and nature exhibits. Heritage Gardens - established in 1952 and restored in 1994, the Kepaniwai Park's Heritage Gardens tells the multicultural history of the island of Maui with Scale models of ethnic buildings. It is a perfect place for picnicking.
How to reach: first follow Highway 32 known as Kaahumanu Road that turns into Highway 320, this root will finally lead you directly to the Iao Valley State Park.
